WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RACE AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

virtual race is a challenge you set yourself, to reach a designated goal of finishing a specified distance by running or walking at a time and location of your choice. When you register to participate in a Fit4Cures Race you are joining a growing community of thousands of athletes from all over the country, that are all challenging themselves during the same designated time period. Just like with a traditional road race, you are given an official awesome race medal; the big difference is that you can run this race anywhere, with anyone and at any time of the day.

MY STORY

Laura Hoebee:  I created Fit 4 Cures to marry the passions in my life; the search for a cure, fitness and family.  At the age of 13 I lost my mom to breast cancer, to say “I was forever changed” is an understatement.  The number of my family, friends and loved ones, whom have been stricken with cancer is staggering.  Each diagnosis has fueled my need to find a Cure and make a difference…but HOW!  Fitness, is a huge part of my life.  I have my degree in Exercise Science, I am a personal trainer, I’ve run a marathon, numerous ½ marathons and many other races, and I believe that a fit lifestyle is important to preventing (and fighting) disease.  Family is the spark that lights this fire.  I hope to teach my kids to value healthy habits and bettering the world around them.  I hope to honor my family that are fighting disease, celebrating those who are surviving it and remembering those who have lost their battle.
